FOR FOREIGNERS

A unique series of annual international conferences "Physics and Mechanics of New Materials and Their Applications" (PHENMA) was held in the city of Jabalpur (India) from October 14 to 16.

One of the organizers of the conference is the Southern Federal University.
The program of the conference, held on the basis of the full-time participation formula, included 327 reports of scientists from 21 countries with a total of about 1000 authors. Scientists, post-graduate students and students of almost all natural and technical subdivisions of SFedU took an active part in this forum.

PHENMA-2017 has already become the sixth conference traditionally held in Asia: previous conferences were held in Rostov-on-Don (2012), Taiwan (2013), Thailand (2014), in Azov (2015, it was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Southern Federal University) and in Indonesia (2016). At the current conference, the Russian delegation consisted of 4 people who represented SFedU, RRC, DGTU and RGUPS.

For the head of the Russian delegation - co-chairman of PHENMA-2017, the chief research officer of the Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Science of SFedU Ivan Parinov - a meeting was held with the leaders of the PDPM Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design and Manufacturing, which hosted the conference.

The conference was held in a beautiful atmosphere of friendliness, cordiality, openness, a great desire to cooperate and expand existing scientific and educational ties. The Indian side made great efforts to ensure that all participants were able to present to the maximum extent at this conference their results, to find new friends and to form competitive teams for conducting new joint research.

The reports presented at PHENMA-2017 demonstrated the existing rather high level of international cooperation and included the results of joint Russian-Taiwanese and Russian-Indonesian studies, a whole section of oral reports was devoted to Russian-Indian scientific cooperation.

The reports were divided into 4 main areas: manufacturing processes, physics, mechanics and the use of new materials. Separate sections were devoted to various environmental and economic aspects related to the manufacture and industrial application of modern materials, as well as management issues.

The collection of abstracts of reports was prepared in electronic form, it will soon appear on the PHENMA-2017 website http://phenma2017.math.sfedu.ru and will be indexed at the RINC. Full-text reports (as well as at last year's conference) will be published in two collective monographs of the publishers SPRINGER and NOVA SCIENCE PUBLISHERS, indexed at SCOPUS. In addition, this year 30 conference reports will be published in the international electronic journal Material Physics and Mechanics, indexed in the Web of Science and SCOPUS. The highest level and interest shown to the reports of the PHENMA conferences is characterized at least by the fact that the reports of the Taiwan conference published in the SPRINGER have been downloaded from the publishing site for more than 42,000 times and are included in the leading 25% of SPRINGER electronic publications downloaded by users the most times. The reports of the anniversary Azov conference occupy the 10th place among all the monographs of Springer in the section "Physics and Astronomy" and have been downloaded more than 46,000 times, and the reports of the Indonesian conference have already been downloaded more than 13,000 times two months after publication in the SPRINGER. The brand PHENMA has gained wide popularity in Asian countries.

At the conference representatives of universities of Russia, Taiwan, India and Indonesia decided to establish PHENMA INTERNATIONAL ASSOCIATION, headed by the chief research officer of the Institute of Mathematics, Mechanics and Computer Science SFU Ivan Parinov. Members of this association will be able to become both physical and legal persons. The tasks that the new association has set for itself include financial support for participation in the PHENMA forums of young scientists-members of the association, as well as implementation of joint research and educational projects of collective members of the association.

The next conference together with the PHENMA-2018 for the first time will be held in the summer of 2018 in Busan (South Korea) and will make it possible to take another step in the rapidly developing international scientific and educational cooperation between Russia and the countries of the Asian continent.
