October 14 in Moscow was an international parade-carnival of students, timed to the start of the XIX World Festival of Youth and Students. The main program of the festival will be held in Sochi, where 20,000 participants from all over the world have already gathered.
The holiday in Moscow began with a procession led by representatives of participating countries of the festival - young people from almost two hundred countries of the world came to Russia. At the head of the column were 450 foreign delegates with the flags of their states. Behind them - about 35 thousand students. The route of the column ran from the Vasilyevsky Descent Square along the Kremlin, Prechistenskaya, Frunzenskaya and Luzhnetskaya embankments to the Luzhniki sports complex. Its length was 8 km.
The World Festival of Youth and Students is held in Russia for the third time, earlier Moscow had already hosted it in 1957 and in 1985. Therefore, the organizers of the event arranged a colorful reconstruction of the parades of the previous two festivals: the marchers dressed in costumes of those years and presented the official attributes of the events.
The format of the event was not limited to a single festival theme: the participants of the parade made a kind of "journey" around the planet - professional actors presented Venice, Cologne, Chinese and Brazilian carnivals on special platforms with decorations and growth puppets. The procession moved participants of the parade to Holland for the Tulip Festival, Japan for the Sakura Blossom Festival, India for the Holi Spring Festival and in the USA for the traditional Mardi Gras holiday - the analog of the Russian Carnival. The orchestra from Russia has closed the column.
After the march of youth in the center of Moscow on the stage of the sports complex "Luzhniki" a festive concert took place. The concert was broadcasted for the audience of the whole world on the air of the channel "Music of the First". The culmination of the holiday of youth and students was colorful fireworks.

The XIX World Festival of Youth and Students will be held from October 14 to 22 in Sochi and will bring together 20,000 young professionals in various fields between the ages of 18 and 35 from more than 180 countries. Also, 2,000 foreign participants in the first three days of the festival will visit 15 Russian regions from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok.
