USATU - The leading and largest university in Ufa and the Republic of Bashkortostan, one of the oldest universities in the region.

The university was organized in accordance with the order of the Chief Directorate of the aviation industry of the national Commissariat of Heavy Industry of July 11, 1932, No. 368, as the Rybinsk Aviation Institute, By order of the People's Commissar of the aircraft industry of the USSR of October 10, 1942, No. 403, a permanent location was established in Ufa with the designation of the  Ufa Aviation Institute named after Ordzhonikidze .

By order of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Technical Policy of the Russian Federation dated December 24, 1992 № 1133 the Ufa Aviation Institute named after Sergo Ordzhonikidze was renamed into the Ufa State Aviation Technical University, Which on February 17, 2003 was included in the Unified State Register of Legal Entities as the State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Ufa State Aviation Technical University".

The Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation dated May 3, 2011 № 1578 State educational institution of higher education "Ufa State Aviation Technical University" was renamed to the Federal State Educational Institution of Higher Professional Education "Ufa State Aviation Technical University."

Direct management of the university is carried out by the rector.

University has 5 branches in different cities and consists of 2 institutes and 7 faculties:

Institute of economics and management;
Military Education Institute;
aircraft engines, energy and transport;
avionics, power and Infocomm;
Computer Science and Robotics;
Aircraft technology systems;
protection in emergency situations;
general scientific;
evening faculty on the basis of Ufa Engine Industrial Association;

Training is carried out on 61 specialties and 25 directions in the field of aviation and space technology; automation and control; engineering and metalworking; Instrumentation; electronic engineering, radio engineering and communications; Electromechanics; electricity; Applied Mathematics; information and computer technology; economics and Management; life safety.
