Medical University is a large educational, scientific and medical institution, which carries out fundamental, search, teaching and applied research. University is among the ten best medical universities in Russia.

International activity

University successfully cooperates with many educational and scientific institutions of foreign countries and international organizations. The most significant progress has been achieved in the following directions:

organization of Russian-German educational and scientific-practical center for endoscopic surgery (Department of Hospital Surgery);
creating German-Russian center of modern innovative technologies in ophthalmology (Department of Ophthalmology);
creating together with German colleagues molecular genetics laboratory (Department of General Pathology);
German-Russian research program in the field of pediatric cardiology (Department of Pediatrics, Faculty of Pediatrics);
Tver State Medical University opening offices at Saarland University (Germany);
a joint project with the medical center "Baykon" (USA) to establish units of dental implantology.
to the number of foreign organizations with which TSMU maintains partnerships include: Earth University of Saarland (Germany), University of Vadodara (India), Medical Academy of Lublin (Poland), the Russian Center for International Education (India), the Russian Educational Center (Sri Lanka), medical center "Baykon" (USA).

The most important element of international activities TSMU is to prepare medical specialists for foreign countries. Since 1962, students, residents, graduate students, clinical experts from 56 countries were trained at the University. Currently, about ¼ of all students TSMU are foreign nationals. Since 2001, the training is conducted with the use of the English language.
