In the week of the Maslenitsa, under the aegis of the Society of Lovers of the Russian Language and Culture, a number of regional geography activities were organized for foreign students of the 1st year of study (groups 1111, 1117, 1122, 1123).
The students got acquainted with the history and traditions of the Maslenitsa celebration, Russian folk songs, proverbs, watched documentary and animated films about Maslenitsa, and also the thematic fragments of the feature film "The Barber of Siberia".
The result was a visit to the folk festivities in the last days of the Maslenitsa week and the participation in the ritual of Maslenitsa's wires, which consisted of burning the effigy of Maslenitsa. This year the central place for the celebration was the '"Ledovy Gorodok" on the "Ploshad' Tysyacheletiya". Foreign students gladly chanted, danced to Russian songs, ate pancakes, and also gave interviews to various television companies and Internet sites. As said the director of the House of Friendship of Peoples of Tatarstan Irek Sharipov , through such traditions and celebration, arise the respect for each other and unity of different peoples . Our students have proved this: they having a good time at the traditional Russian festival, they got a lot of pleasant impressions.
